Star Schools national operations manager Andrea Pratten and Jay Naidoo, chief education specialist (acting) for Special Needs Education Services, Umlazi district were among the attendees at the Central Applications Office’s (CAO) recent 20th birthday celebrations, held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban.
The CAO was established in 1998 to increase the accessibility of tertiary institutions to prospective students and reduce the financial burden of applying to these institutions. Additionally, it seeks to enhance efficiency for member institutions in their student selection process.
“Star Schools congratulates the CAO on its achievements over the last 20 years. It remains the only regional body of its kind in South Africa where students can apply to the four public universities in KwaZulu-Natal on one application form and only pay a single application fee,” says Pratten. “The new Central Application Service (CAS), which is to be introduced nationally, is modelled on the CAO system.”
